Contractor training at Kruger National Park
The Kruger National Park is reaching out to local communities with 150 emerging contractors the latest recipients of its largesse.
The contractors were trained in the park with funding from the Department of Water and Environmental Affairs’ social responsibility programme.
“We want to support small- and medium-sized companies in the construction sector and the training provided in some of Kruger’s main camps is part of the park’s broader strategy for economic empowerment and social responsibility,” said Blake Schraader, head of technical services. The contractors are taught bricklaying, plastering, painting, thatching, tiling and plumbing as well as occupational health and safety, first aid and good work practices.
